Malkit Singh’s brand new devotional album ‘Sikh Hon Da Maan’

Malkit Singh in his own words:

Sat Sri Akal to you all,

Recording ‘Sikh Hon Da Maan’ has been a great spiritual experience for me in that it has reminded me just why Sikhi is such an amazing religion, hence making me proud to be a Sikh. It is very difficult to find decent albums and songs these days as everyone has become so blinded by money, fame and power. In this day and age sometimes fail to realize, take notice and understand our religion and what our Guru Ji’s sacrificed for us. So I ask you this; what does it mean to be a Sikh?

Being a Sikh is what is inside you, It is a way of thinking, it is a way of learning; it is a way of life. Don’t just read and listen to Gurbani (sacred text), clear your mind so that you can fully understand it. That is why on this album I have chosen to include nine religious songs and one Shabad, a spiritual hymn, which can cleanse the soul at anytime of the day. Each song tells a different story about why our religion is so special to us, and by listening to the album you can recognize, appreciate and understand exactly what it means to be a real Sikh.

If our Guru Ji’s could sacrifice their life for us then surely we can sacrifice our time to actually understand Sikhi, as well as teach our children so that tomorrow’s generation can keep Sikhi alive and be proud to be a Sikh. It makes me feel very proud when people compliment me about my Pagh (Turban) and it is heart-warming to hear parents tell me that their children have decided to wear a pagh(turban) after seeing mine. When people thank me for representing Sikhs on a global scale, that is the true meaning of ‘Sikh Hon Da Maan‘.

However let’s not forget that a true Sikh respects all beings and religions which is why we always pray, ‘Nanak Naam Chardi Kala, Tere Bhane Sarbat Da Bhala(O God! Through Satguru Nanak, may your name be exalted and may all humanity prosper according to your will.)’

I hope this album can bring you a spiritual connection to our Almighty God as much as it brought me. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Shri Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh (The pure belong to God, all victory belongs to God).

With all my love,
Malkit Singh MBE
