Kulvinder Johal – the big man with the unmistakably huge voice behind monster anthems such as ‘Chithian Sahibaan Jatti Neh‘, ‘Johal Boliyan‘ and the smash hit anthem ‘Puth Jattan De‘ as well as a multitude of other tracks returns to the scene with his follow up album ‘Once Upon Tha Mic‘. Switching up the style from the debut album ‘Mundeh Panjabi‘, this sophomore effort is exactly what you would expect from ‘Kulvinder Johal‘ – raw, powerful and unadulterated Panjabi Folk singing layered over a bed of 100% Desi, authentic and pure Punjabi music intertwined with pulsating, hardcore and uncompromising Hip-Hop.
The music is supplied once again courtesy of the deadly duo known as ‘Kaos Productions‘ – the production outfit behind numerous hit anthems such as ‘Mundra‘ (Saini Surinder), ‘Gidheh Vich Nach‘ (Gurbhej Brar), ‘Nazareh‘ (Gurj Sidhu) & the classic albums ‘Mighty Manak & Case of Bass 1, 2 & 3′. The album also features an exclusive track by the critically acclaimed music director ‘Tru-Skool‘ who’s most recent ventures include the international smash hit anthem ‘Puth Jattan De‘ and the multi award winning/record breaking hit album ‘Back to Basics‘ alongside the international superstar ‘Diljit Dosanjh‘.
‘Once Upon Tha Mic‘ features seven tracks penned by none other than legendary lyricist ‘Swarn Sivia‘ (who has written for numerous iconic singers such as the master Kuldip Manak, Amar Singh Chamkila, Sardool Sikander alongside many others). The album also features three tracks by Derby’s very own ‘Manjit Samra‘ who is behind hit tracks such as Challeh Mundhian (JK), Mundeh Panjabi (Kulvinder Johal) alongside a plethora of others. The album also features a guest appearance by the deadly ‘Jaswinder Jassi‘ who features on two duet tracks showcasing her skills.
‘Once Upon Tha Mic‘ is an unreserved effort to present the voice of ‘Kulvinder Johal‘ exactly as you would expect to hear it – on tracks that truly showcase his powerful and unique voice. The album is an effort to capture the best of ‘Kulvinder Johal‘.
