Riding high after their sucess with Jassi Gill’s “Classmate”, Chakdey.com caught up with Punjab’s latest musical production duo for their first ever UK interview!
Introduce yourselves…
We’re Goldy Kahlon and Satpal Malhi. We’re based in Khanna and have been working in the Punjabi music industry since 2003. In late 2012 we re-launched ourselves as Desi Crew and are currently producing a lot of material for Speed Records.
Why did you get into making music?
Music is our passion and also our profession. We’d like to help spread our cultural music in every corner of the globe!
What do you think makes your music different?
We try to break the usual clichés with our music; we hope that is what makes us and our sound different.
What’s your favourite track right now?
We’re both opting for recent big Bollywood songs from the same film, Aashiqui 2: Goldy’s picked “Tum Hi Ho” by Arijit Singh and Satpal’s gone for “Bhula Dena” by Mustafa Zahid.
What’s your current/next release?
We recently produced the debut solo release for Kaur B; and also the new single for Roshan Prince entitled “Mr. Pendu” (both released by Speed Records). We’re about to start work on material for both Jazzy B and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and we also have a number of film tracks in the pipeline for later this year.
