As I said tricky subject...@bhavneet, why is your name different in your responses, one is 'bhavneet canadawala' and the other is 'bhavneet candawala'. :x lol, its all good.

The only vibe I am getting from our people based on the responses is that if you wear a pugh you can't enjoy yourself you can't live your life. Look, the guy is trying to represent punjabi people whether he has a slightly grown beard or if its completly shaved what difference does it make? Half of these guys don't even have the balls to wear a pugh - go mack on girls with your fauhawx!! Have you noticed there has never been any unity within Punjabi people? Have you read the comments under his youtube video LOL...

Written by dholimc, on 26-07-2010 22:53
FML...whats up with with the beard comments.....every singer and producer in uk with pagh shaves or trims beearc.....Shinda, malkit singh, jassi sidhu, Dr zeus ( is a sardar) wear no turban and shaves, kam bhamra, kulwant bhamrah, DES -C , i dont see yall dissing him, all th sardars in the bhangra bands back in the day.

So why dont you lot diss the mona people in the bhangra videos, most artists are moneh now days so aint they a disgrace to out gurus?

what aboout the girls in the videos aint they a disgrace to out gurus?

what about all the moneh in the world wearing a kara, khanda, whilst shaving, cutting hair and so on they are a disgrace to our gurus?

I bet all who made the comments are all moneh!

Ummm Bhavneet has your name always been 'canadawala' on here? Lol, I'm asking cos I'm new to the forum, and was wondering if its just a coincidence with 'wala' in the name.

ummm buddy shinda has a hair cut .... and this guy does look like an idiot anyways shinda has a hair cut u can tell look at the top of his pagh or at the back
 10 Written by UkWala, on 22-07-2010 16:27
EDIT: Shinda isnt the only culprit that sings dharmak geets and shaves.
 11 Written by UkWala, on 22-07-2010 13:56
Shinda isnt the only culprit thats sings and dharmak geets tbh, theres several others too, which isnt good....but at least he didnt have a 'Grade 0.5' beard with a turban lol.

I can see this guy challenging Imran Khan if his songs continue to be catchy as this one.

Shinda brings out religious music yet he shaves his beard, dont see anyone having a problem with that? Let this guy do his thing, he can actually sing so good work!

@Punj, I think you hit the nail on the head. The beard should not be trimmed to an extent where it looks like its nearly a clean shave, because it does look odd. As I said, the crossovers are bound to happen, as we do live in a society of fusion.

@Parmpal,Obviously it is not a dharmak geet...for this reason, leave the Khanda references out of it if Sikhism is not represented with respect, as it is in someways an insult.
 14 i'd choose a haircut over a turban any

Look- Appreciate the artist - not his looks.... i'll be straight up all these singh this singh that posters... this isn't a shabad -shinda, ranjit mani - none of these guys are full singhs- A Sardar can be referred to as a man who wears a pugh in his song they have even attempted to show full singhs as "putt sardara they" .... i'm glad he made the song and the video how it is because it shows the character of indian people..

2 snips and his hair would be gone obviously the guy is trying to KEEP IT REAL AS MUCH AS HE CAN!!! BIG UP... I 'M FEELING THE SWAG !

well i agree with all of you everyone is right in some way some less some more. the main problem that i don't think is with him a trimmed beard (all of the singers we know of especially in punjab have trimmed beards) but with beard being "too" trimmed looks like a clean shaved. He needs to grow it a little bit more to look at least suitable with his turban.

yes yes i agree that we need to grow our beards for sikhi i am not against that i respect it with all my heart but if he chooses not to grow it all the way atlest trim it enough to look decent on your face.

and buddy please grow ur mustache "much punjabian di shaan"

thats wut i think

The reason the focus of no beard has been directed onto the singer is because he is the centre of attention in the song, which is to be broadcast on tv. This is also the reason why the word 'disgrace' has been used.

He will be on tv, watched by many, and when he is in this position, he should be representing the Sikh IDENTITY with a little more thought.

This topic of no beard would not have come up if he simply wore a hat or even bandana in the video.

It is a tricky subject, but what it comes down to is the Sikh identity should be represented with more respect, especially in the public eye.

@Sledge- You are right about the alcohol issue. Just take a look at the disgraceful Dj Gurps videos.

@DJ-Rem- About the rest of the Singhs with trimmed beards etc, yes, they are a disappointment because if you have decided to represent yourself with the Sikh identity, do not insult it by not committing yourself fully to it.

@Blend- I dont think its seen as being fashionable, but I could be wrong lol.

I fail to recognize the correlation between this song and Preet Mani not having a beard...this isn't a Dharmak geet...So I suppose all the singhs in the UK that have trimmed or no beards are disgraces to? tsk tsk...tough one peeps!!! opening up a can of worms!!!
 18 Written by sledge, on 21-07-2010 20:43
i agree to the argument of turban wid no beard.
But who are we to judge init ? why does he have to be on our own satisfactory level ?

Having full beard doesnt make you a proper sikh either right ? So whats with the hypocrisy. Then many might concern abt the fact, that a proper sikh yet alcohal being served and half naked gals dancing in the club.

Look around you, world is full of shit... atlest hez half way there..

p.s > I dunt like the track. I believe its his first song. Let the next one come den judge.

ooppps hes from canada :-D

I was thinking of the same thing, the track is catchy, but it is VERY conspicuous to see him with the turban and no beard. But it is apparently fashionable in UK right?

But musically it is not entirely bad, very rhythmic, reminds me a little about the old days with RDB lol.

Actually a good effort :-)

Whilst I give kudos for what is actually quite a catchy tune, I could not agree more with Singh soorma.

The singer clearly wants to represent himself as a Sikh in the video, as displayed through the Khanda references, yet has decided not to keep a full beard.

This is in essence, is a disgrace, but I do not blame him as he is in a grey area in such, as we are, of not being pure goreh, or pure indian in terms of culture, therefore he is trying to find his own niche in terms of style.

I am sure in hindsight he would probaly leave the Sikh references out of the song, but more thought into the video in regards to this would have been great.

This is not hate, just constructive criticism. I actually think the tune is quite good. Better than loads of bakwas out there tbh.

good on him for trying but what an embarassment by wearing what our gurus fought for and then not keeping the beard. Might as well not wear a turban. Sikhan di shaan, not some sort of an apparel/accessory
