A video has recently emerged of when Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh apologized for his song ‘Kharku‘. Diljit visited Bhai Gurbax Singh whilst he was on hunger strike to free Sikh prisoners in December 2013. Diljit was asked by Gurbax Singh about his knowledge on Sikh history to which he replied “I’ve read Japji Sahib”. Then Gurbax Singh explained that the song ‘Kharku‘ was offensive to Sikh Martyrs who had given their lives to protect the honor of women.
In the video Diljit is very humble and apologetic. Diljit asks for forgiveness and then writes an apology saying he was wrong to release his song ‘Kharku‘. In the end we see a very frail Bhai Gurbax Singh and an emotional Diljit hug each other and he is given a Siropa.
