Parts of Sky Living‘s new structured reality show Desi Rascals will be ‘leaked’ online to get the reaction of viewers before episodes air.
Six to seven second clips of the Gurinder Chadha-produced programme will be published via Instagram and Twitter, enabling viewers and other cast members to react and influence the show’s direction.
Desi Rascals will follow the lives of a multi-generational cast within the British-Asian community living in West London and will be shot in real time.
Broadcast Now reports that executive producer Ross McCarthy wants to make the show “faster than TOWIE and better looking than Made In Chelsea”.
McCarthy intends to post one or two clips to social media mere hours after they are filmed.
“We want it to be available so quickly that it offers a much rawer experience,” he said “We are trying to speed up and intensify the way in which the audience interacts with the cast to help drive the show’s momentum.”
The move has been approved by Sky as long as the clips fit the tone of the 8pm show and do not break broadcasting rules.
The clips will be shared by the Sky Living and Desi Rascals Twitter accounts, as well as by Chadha, who has 36,000 followers.
Desi Rascals launches on January 20 and will air on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 8pm on Sky Living.[Source: digitalspy.co.uk]
