We are saddened to announce the passing of Punjabi Hip Hop Rapper Deep Cold who passed away today morning in India.
Deep Cold was a Punjabi-American Southern Rap artist from Houston, Texas. Deep Cold was one of the original pioneers of Desi Hip Hop music who released his debut album In Trunks Now in the year 2005 which featured big Southern Rap names.
Deep Cold came to limelight in 2007 when he released ‘Dekhlo Punjabi Munde‘ which immediately climbed the BBC charts and spread worldwide. In 2010 his popular hit ‘Dekhlo Punjabi Munde‘ was refixed by replacing with the vocals of Diljit Dosanjh and featured in the Super hit Punjabi movie ‘Mel Karade Rabba’.
Deep Cold has worked with big names including Sonu Nigam, Master Saleem, David Banner, Too Short, Slim Thug, Big Moe, Lil KeKe, Billy Cook, C-Note (Botany Boyz), S.U.C. – Screwed Up Click, DJ Sanj/J-Nas, Diljit Singh, Jas Rai, Kamla Punjabi, Haji Springer and more.
His opinion about his style of music:
I don’t have a specific style of music that can be categorized. I make music that transcends hate, barriers and race. That’s what music is intended to be.
Deep Cold has also teamed up with Sonny Brown and The Teflon Don to form the group 3 SINGHS. Deep Cold was also known for his collaboration with DJ Sanj for the hit single ‘Mukhada‘ alongside Jay Status.
Amardeep Singh Basra aka Deep Cold passed away on 5th March 2014 while visiting India for his upcoming projects with some of the big names in the Punjabi and Bollywood industry.
A great loss to the music industry. Always remembered and never forgotten.
