Coke Studio Pakistan Season 7 line-up announcement delayed due to political situation in the country

The now legendary show curated and produced by Rohail Hyatt, who stepped down suddenly after the end of Season 6, may be facing delays due to political unrest. Rumours have been flying about which acts have been asked to perform on the show’s forthcoming 7th season; the first to be produced by Pakistani melodic rock band Strings. The official announcement was due this week but has been put back.

The cream of the country’s musical landscape have appeared on the show including Arif Lohar, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali Azmat, The Sketches, Saieen Zahoor, Ali Zafar, Abida Parveen, Javed Bashir, Atif Aslam, Hadiqa Kiani and Rizwan-Muazzam amongst others.

Seasons 1 through to Season 4 in particular have gone done in musical history, producing performances that went on to become massive hits nationally and worldwide, in addition to forming the inspiration for the Indian version. Arif Lohar & Meesha Shafi‘s performance of “Alif Allah Chambey Di Booty (Jugni)” from Season 3 became the most viewed online Pakistani music clip in history.
