2014: It’s a year of collaborations for Bohemia!

Written by

Bohemia started his career as a near-novelty, a teenager in California, delivering, hardcore Desi Hip Hop rap music, a style of music which was unheard of at the time. But within a few years he has pretty much reinvented the Indian Pop music scene and influenced not only youth to start rapping Punjabi/Hindi lyrics to Hip Hop beats, but the Bollywood superstars as well. Most memorably in the film Desi Boyz, Bohemia raps to set the scene for Sanjay Dutt‘s cameo, as he walks in the courtroom. ‘Main tera Hero…!’

Bohemia said:

When you rap, you got to write, when you write you have to think! I like making people think…

Known worldwide as the creator of Punjabi Rap music, Bohemia’s album ‘Pesa Nasha Pyar’ was the first full length Punjabi Rap album in history. His latest album ‘Thousand Thoughts’ received the ‘Best International Punjabi Album’ Award at PTC Punjabi Music Awards 2013.

A Bohemian by nature, Bohemia refuses to follow existing trends and believes in creating his own path. In an era, where perception is everything and young artist are concentrating on making music videos instead of focusing on the craft of music, Bohemia continues to attract thousands of audience, singing along his hit songs like ‘Kali Denal’, a song for which he has not yet made a music video!

His way of thinking/writing also earned him an invitation to the popular Coke Studio Sessions as the first rap artist. His thought provoking poetry ‘Geet mere yaad given school di kitaab’ at Coke Studio continues to pierce the heart of many and has received millions of organic views worldwide.

Discussing his future plans, Bohemia said;

I’m honored to have been approached by many amazing artists this year. For me, this year is a collaborations year.

Bohemia just recorded his International collaboration with Jamaican American superstar Sean Kingston. The rap star is also working with many upcoming artists as well that have a lot of talent.

Currently on a tour of India, Bohemia did his first concert at the Hans Raj College in Delhi for a ten thousand plus cowed. Young guys and girls could be seen screaming Bohemia’s name, holding up his album posters and dressing up like him. Many of Bohemia’s fans actually have his name, and even face permanently tattooed on their bodies to show how they plan to support Bohemia for life. His next live performance is scheduled at the Indra Gandhi stadium in Delhi on the 12th of April managed by his official team YS Events, more updates available on Bohemia’s organically growing Facebook community. As the creator of Punjabi rap, who preferred to be called a ‘street poet’ continues to make us think.
